In the middle of difficulty, lies opportunity!

Maximising Opportunities, Minimising Risks: Career Move

While the trajectory of the coronavirus outbreak is still uncertain, this may be a crucial time to focus in on your job search and here’s why.

The bottom line is people get hired during economic downturns, and that includes pandemics too. Do you know who gets hired during this time? Those who didn’t stop their job search despite difficulties and, instead, looked for opportunities and remained solution focused.

One added benefit of continuing now is that it provides you with an edge over those who stopped searching. By continuing your search, you'll be in front of potential employers when others aren’t. So, continue, but know that the landscape might be different. It's important to note that the market has always been competitive pre-coronavirus, and companies have continued to take their time to process candidates and hire the best person for the job.

At Block Recruit we find it beneficial to hold video calls with our candidates to discuss how we plan on working with them, and really going through their experience to work out what type of company they will exceed with, making sure it’s achievable and realistic. This can be a call from your living room or wherever you feel comfortable. In fact, if you are self-isolating, this is a key time when you may have some time for self-reflection, talking to one of our consultants who can guide you on your digital profile, interview preparation, salary bench-marking and career analysis – we will always take the time. We CARE : )

So, if you are currently looking for a new position you may want to start to take advantage of the opportunities out there and talking to an expert who can help you.
