Description

A one day course covering the the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 which places significant duties and responsibilities on the ‘responsible person’.  Typically, the responsible person is the freeholder or landlord, but may be a ‘residential management company’ (RMC). However, responsibilities and duties imposed on the responsible person also apply to any other person who, “under a tenancy or contract, has a responsibility for maintenance or repair of the premises, maintenance or repair of anything in or on the premises, or for the safety of the premises”. This can include a wide variety of people, including the Residential Managing Agent (RMA).

 

Content

The course covers:

 

  • Compliance implementation of systems to manage fire safety in residential buildings, post-Grenfell.
  • Interim report review findings by Dame Judith Hackett on Building and Fire Regulations and the implications for Managing Agents and recommendations for change within your business.
  • Personnel identification – competency standards and their requirements.
  • Tools for enforcement through leasehold and other legal routes
  • All membership size bandings from the smallest to national firms

 

The course will not enable you to:

  • Provide safety assistance as required by Regulation 18 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
  • Undertake a fire risk assessment as required by Regulation 9 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

This course is suitable for those who manage fire safety within your organisation and for senior property managers/business heads who need to ensure compliance with fire safety law.
