The Opportunity
I'm currently working with a large, established property management organisation that provides property management services across England and Wales. They are a growing and dynamic business operating across multiple locations, with a strong focus on delivering excellent service to both clients and customers.
We’re looking for an experienced Associate Director to join the leadership team and take responsibility for leading and developing a regionally based team. This is a senior leadership position, with accountability for the delivery of services across the operational sector, while working closely with the Director to deliver the wider business plan and exceed operational targets.
The role will have a strong focus on team leadership, operational excellence, client relationships, business development and professional development.
About the Role
As Associate Director, you will lead and develop a team of Property Managers, providing strong leadership, mentoring and technical guidance to drive excellence across the team. You will act as a subject matter expert, supporting Property Managers with technical and procedural matters and ensuring best practice is consistently achieved. A key part of the role will be fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development, while ensuring customers and clients receive an excellent level of service.
You will work closely with the Director and play an important role in new business development and operational strategy, supporting the growth and development of the wider property management operation.
Strong commercial awareness and sound business acumen are essential, as you will be expected to support strategic decision-making and contribute towards the delivery of business plans and targets.
Excellent client relationship management skills are also critical. You will proactively engage with clients, manage senior stakeholder relationships and ensure any issues are identified and resolved at an early stage.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership

Lead and develop a team of Property Managers.

Develop recruitment strategies to source and retain new talent in line with the growth plan.

Provide guidance, support and professional development opportunities for the team.

Monitor the performance of individual team members and the effectiveness of the wider team.

Conduct regular performance reviews and provide mentoring and support where required.

Ensure the team remains compliant with industry regulations and best practices.

Drive and maintain a high standard of professionalism across the team.
Business Development & Operations

Work closely with the Director and Business Development team to support new business opportunities.

Attend pitches, prepare proposals and participate in client meetings.

Help drive portfolio growth by securing new instructions and developing long-term client relationships.

Ensure the effective delivery of operational tasks, including financial reporting, strategic planning and implementation of company policies.

Contribute to the overall strategic direction of the property management division.

Ensure operational activity remains aligned with wider company objectives.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement

Act as a key point of contact for senior contacts within key client accounts and stakeholders on strategic matters.

Represent the organisation at client meetings, industry events and networking opportunities.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and other key stakeholders.

Maintain high-level engagement with contractors, suppliers and third parties to ensure the smooth running of services across the portfolio.
Essential Experience & Skills
-
Minimum 10 years' experience within property management, with significant experience managing large-scale or dispersed portfolios within a corporate environment.

Proven experience leading and developing a team of Property Managers.

Experience managing performance issues and motivating teams to achieve high standards.

Strong client relationship management experience, including dealing with demanding clients in complex and high-pressure environments.

Degree-level education.

MTPI qualification or equivalent relevant qualification and/or experience.

Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.

Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.

A proactive approach to business development and operational strategy.
