A National Property Specialist working in the investment of Freeholds & Ground Rents are now looking for a Service Charge Specialist to join them on a 6-month Fixed Term Contract basis. Your expertise will be utilised as the company requires an experienced Service Charge Accountant to assist the Finance department in the “in-house” management of their property portfolio.

As this department goes through a period of change, they require a Service Charge Accountant to join them in working Client Side. As a significant proportion of the management of their properties changes hands, there is an even higher demand for service charge expertise to oversee the handover of management as well as the additional responsibilities outlined below. This is a great chance to get away from the “run-of-the-mill” position & start working with an exciting & expanding property team.   

You will be:

  • Confident and proficient with systems, reporting and analysis of data
  • A well-motivated, knowledgeable and enthusiastic user of processes and systems

  • A resilient and resourceful team member with good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously
  • A pro-active problem solver continuously identifying ways to improve the service provided

What will your responsibilities include?

  • Working closely with the Finance team with Financial reporting
  • Prepare, review & present accurate & timely management accounts for a number of entities
  • Consolidating management accounts at appropriate levels & preparing board level reporting
  • Undertaking transactional and investment acquisition accounting
  • Complete and review balance sheet reconciliations ensuring that all queries are resolved in a timely manner
  • Undertaking company secretary requirements
  • Carry out VAT returns across the group as appropriate
  • Assist external accountants in the preparation of corporation tax returns
  • Assist external accountants in the preparation and audit of statutory accounts
  • Ad-hoc financial analysis and presentations as and when requested
  • Assist in the production of budgets, strategic plans and other forecasts as required

Skills and Experience:

  • Understanding of relevant legislation and guidance.
  • Previous estate management/block management accounting experience.
  • Experience creating & Forecasting Service Charge Budgets.
  • Previous experience using Qube is desirable.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • ACCA/ AAT or CIMA Qualified.
  • Produce consistently high-quality work with minimal supervision.

Salary Range & Benefits

The salary on offer is commensurate with your qualifications & experience in a similar role. The salary range is between £30,000 - £40,000 PA.
